On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Interior delivered a speech in which he stated: It gives me great pleasure to meet all of you in our meeting on the occasion of the World Anti-Drug Day. As is well known, the United Nations General Assembly issued a resolution in 1987 defining that the twenty-sixth of June of each year be the International Day against Drugs, in recognition of the global danger of drug repercussions. According to United Nations reports for the year 2022, there are more than 270 million people using drugs. As for our situation in Bahrain, praise be to God, by reviewing the drug-related reports, there has been no increase over the past three years, and the rate has stabilized at less than 3% relative to the rest of the criminal reports. The Minister welcomed the members, stressing his appreciation for the cooperation and coordination between all parties and civil society institutions, and the role of the General Department of Investigation and Criminal Evidence through the Drug Control Department in carrying out its duties in law enforcement and providing the necessary awareness, within the framework of combating drugs and protecting children and youth. During its meeting, the committee reviewed a comprehensive summary of the achievements made in the field of drug control in the period from 2020 to March 2023. During its meeting, the National Committee discussed strengthening the supervisory role of the Ministry of Health on prescriptions for psychotropic substances and narcotic drugs, reducing addiction to them, and preventing their diversion and misuse through the use of electronic systems for prescribing and dispensing. The Minister praised the role of the Ministry of Health in controlling and controlling the dispensing of these medicines through electronic dispensing. During the meeting, the committee discussed the concept of severe disability based on national and regional standards and standards, which classify disability as severe in comparison to the independence factor of the disabled person, which is represented in the extent to which he shows behavior and reaction appropriate to the situation by completely self-reliant, as this is one of the most important standards and measurement tools in defining and classifying the nature of severe disabilities.
