The Kingdom of Bahrain participates with society in celebrating the occasion of Arabian Deaf Week, which is celebrated in the last week of April every year, in order to increase community awareness, highlight the basic rights of this group of society, empower the organizations that represent them, and promote projects concerned with them. On this occasion, Mrs. Zainab Salman Al-Awainati, Welfare and Social Rehabilitation Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Social Development, confirmed that, in compliance with the Kingdom’s interest in the rights of all persons with disabilities, the Ministry launched a package of projects, initiatives and programs that were included in the executive plan of the National Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for the years 2023 - 2027 to represent a vision, an integrated framework, and a national commitment to the support and support necessary to empower this group and integrate them into society, based on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to international agreements and charters in a way that contributes to achieving social integration and consolidating and ensuring societal equality. Manama, April 2 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain participates with the countries of the world in the anniversary of World Autism Spectrum Disorders Awareness Day, on April 2 of each year, in order to highlight the importance of continuing to provide various means of support for people with autism, and promoting their integration into society. On this occasion, Mrs. Zainab Salman Al-Awainati, Assistant Undersecretary for Welfare and Social Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Social Development, member of the Supreme Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is distinguished by a pioneering experience in the field of integrated social policies between the governmental, private and private sectors, and achieving the principles of justice, equality and equal opportunities among all. The National Committee for Childhood organized an awareness workshop entitled “Hearing My Voice” for a number of male and female students in government and private schools, in the presence of representatives of the relevant authorities at the Sharifa Al-Awadhi Club for Children and Youth. During the discussion, the Minister reviewed the initiatives and achievements to guarantee the rights of people with disabilities in the Kingdom, the forefront of which is the launch of the National Strategy for the Rights of disabled in the year 2012, in addition to updating its executive plan for the years (2023-2027) and the initiatives and activities it included in various fields. He also indicated all the accomplishments tasks in the National Human Rights Plan for the years (2022-2026) and the projects it includes to strengthen policies and develop systems, regulations, and decisions governing the implementation of international conventions on the rights of persons with disabilities, ensuring their enjoyment of their comprehensive rights, and developing their capabilities in order to integrate them into the labour market. He also reflected all the actions taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to enhance the effective participation of civil society organizations, through the establishment of about seventeen civil organizations concerned with the rights of this group, in which women with disabilities had a wide representation. Regarding academic and vocational care and rehabilitation services, the Minister referred to the joint national efforts aimed at providing all types of rehabilitation services, pointing also to the students who are integrated into all government schools, in addition to a package of direct and indirect projects and programmes, both material and in-kind, which are being launched.
