His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, received in his office at the Ministry, Mr. Yacoub Yusuf Mohamed, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Free Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions, in the presence of the Head of the General Secretariat of the Federation of Arab Retirees, Mr. Saleh Ali Mohamed, and a number of members of the Secretariat representing 7 Arab countries, on the occasion of their visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to see the Kingdom's experience in caring for retirees and senior citizens. During the meeting, Al-Asfoor reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Social Development in the field of providing social protection for retirees and senior citizens, within the social protection network system that the Kingdom of Bahrain has guaranteed to its citizens, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Kingdom on Bahrain, and the close follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, through a package of initiatives and projects implemented by the Ministry and supervised according to the principle of community partnership with the government, private and civil sectors. Within the framework of supporting the national efforts exerted to achieve development in its comprehensive concept, Al-Asfoor touched in the same context on the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain in caring for, protecting, rehabilitating and integrating this group into society, most notably the pioneering experience in establishing parental day care homes and clubs, under the supervision of the Ministry and the management of civil society organizations that provide social, economic, cultural and health services to this group during the day. For their part, the attendees from the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Retirees reviewed the experiences of their countries in protecting and caring for retirees and senior citizens, praising what they learned during their visit about the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain in order to improve welfare and social protection services that are provided to various segments of society, specifically to the retirees, as well as support voluntary and charitable work, through the facilities granted to civil organizations and the strengthening of their active role in supporting humanitarian work in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
