On this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Social Development, Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's keenness to promote the projects of micro, small and medium enterprises, due to their vital role in achieving the goals of sustainable development, especially in the field of promoting innovation and creativity and providing decent work for all. Al-Asfoor said that the Ministry of Social Development continued its path in supporting productive families through a step-by-step program for home projects, which provided support to owners of home projects, by giving them the opportunity to work from home, while providing for their needs during the period of the pandemic, and the program continues to provide many advantages that It guarantees them many advantages for developing their own projects and qualifying them towards entrepreneurship and moving from the circle of relying on social assistance to the circle of producers and economically dependent on their projects to provide their living needs, noting that 62 productive families or entrepreneurs have become owners of commercial records. The services provided to the members of the Step for Home Projects program consisted of providing free legal cover, in coordination with the relevant authorities, as more than 1,400 entries for working from home were issued since 2010, in addition to marketing in various “hypermarket” centers and participating in local exhibitions. And international, and electronic marketing through commercial platforms, and the provision of professional specialized training at the Design and Innovation Center and the Center of Excellence for the development of microenterprises at the administrative and production levels, in addition to benefiting from the voluntary insurance program at the General Authority for Social Insurance, in addition to the training courses provided in the affiliated social development centers. The ministry is dedicated to all segments of society throughout the year, from which more than 23,000 trainees benefited during the year 2021. His Excellency the Minister of Social Development referred to the important role played by the Family House for Microfinance (formerly the Family Bank) in enabling citizens with limited income and owners of micro and small projects, including those affiliated with the Step Home Projects Program, to finance their projects in accordance with the principles of Islamic law. Where it has provided its services (since the beginning of its establishment in 2009) to more than 6,000 Bahraini individuals and families, with an amount of approximately 15,000 Bahraini Dinars, in an integrated role with the system of services provided by the esteemed government and the entities supporting small and medium enterprises in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
