His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is a leading model to be emulated in legal gains in the field of human rights, thanks to the high royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and with the follow-up of His Highness Royal Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him. On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Minister of Social Development expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Supreme Council for Women, headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, may God protect her, in continuing the integrated efforts to implement Plans, programs and policies supporting the promotion of women’s rights, and in continuous coordination with all relevant sectors in order to protect women, and by launching the national strategy to protect women from domestic violence, in order to secure and enhance their rights and combat forms of violence against them, including domestic violence. He also pointed out that the Kingdom has taken many initiatives to contribute to raising community awareness in the field of combating violence against women, enabling it to participate effectively in the national process, and this confirms its commitment to the fifth goal of the sustainable development goals related to eliminating all forms of violence against women, pointing out In this context, to the efforts of the Ministry of Social Development, through the implementation of programs and projects aimed at protecting women, including the “Al-Aman House for Women Subjected to Domestic Violence”, which was established within the community partnership programs with civil society institutions, where the house provides the necessary shelter and social care services, In coordination with various concerned official, civil and private bodies, in order to provide protections to ensure their social integration. Within the family protection axis, the Ministry’s family guidance offices provide an effective and essential role in maintaining family stability and cohesion in society, through guidance services and family counseling sessions, in addition to family education programs that aim to spread community awareness. The offices also supervise the granting of licenses to family guidance centres. In order to implement the law on protection from domestic violence.
