Manama, November 21 (BNA): Ms. Enas Mohammed Al Majid, Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development at the Ministry of Social Development, stressed the importance of the National Childhood Strategy (2023-2027) in improving the quality of life of children in the Kingdom of Bahrain and providing a safe and sustainable environment for their development and growth, as it is an important initiative to guarantee the rights of children. Children in several fields through various axes focusing on health protection, education, centralization of child data and information in the Kingdom of Bahrain, protection from exploitation and violence, promoting the effective participation of children, awareness and education. She said in a special statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the occasion of World Children’s Day, which falls on November 20 of each year, that the launch of the first national strategy for children and its action plan in the Kingdom of Bahrain took place on September 11, 2013, in partnership with the UNICEF office in the Gulf region and the UNICEF office. The strategy at that time was based on 4 basic rights of the child, which are the right to health and survival, the right to education and capacity development, the right to protection, and the right to participation and non-discrimination. It also indicated that the National Strategy for Children (2023-2027), which was approved by the Council of Ministers yesterday, Monday, is based on 8 main axes: governance and data, health and quality of life, education, technology and capacity building, protection, security and safety, research and studies, representation, participation and non-discrimination. Enhancing identity and belonging, and international conventions on children’s rights. Al-Majed continued that this strategy aims to improve the quality of life of children in the Kingdom of Bahrain and provide a safe and sustainable environment for their development and growth. It is an important initiative to guarantee children’s rights in several areas through 4 pillars and 34 goals that will be implemented through 136 initiatives and more than 20 government and private agencies participate in their implementation. And civil society organizations, and the implementation of the strategy’s initiatives and projects is verified through direct coordination between the relevant authorities and follow-up on updating performance indicators and the mechanisms that have been accomplished through the National Committee for Childhood.
