Al-Asfoor heads the Bahrain delegation participating in the ninth meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs and Development of the GCC countries

His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, headed the delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the ninth meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs and Development of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the Sultanate of Oman. The meeting discussed and approved a number of topics on the agenda, most notably the decision of the Supreme Council in its forty-first session regarding the unified guiding law (system) for empowering persons with disabilities and the unified guiding law (system) for volunteer work, and the decision regarding protecting moral, religious and family values in Gulf societies. As well as adopting the general framework for the tasks and responsibilities of the Joint Charitable Work Committee in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the joint Gulf action strategy for women’s affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in addition to studying and disseminating the privileges card granted to persons with disabilities in the Gulf countries, and developing the standards for honoring pioneering projects in the fields of work. The meeting also discussed and approved the first initiative of the Social Development Strategy for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries concerned with developing unified policies for the cohesion and stability of Gulf society and enhancing the spirit of Gulf citizenship and Arab and Islamic identity, and the General Secretariat’s proposal for on-the-job training, as well as the State of Kuwait’s proposal for an award for creative and distinguished people with disabilities.
