His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, participated in the extraordinary session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, organized by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Social Affairs Sector, via visual communication technology, on the humanitarian and social conditions in the Republic of Sudan. During the session, the humanitarian and social conditions in the sisterly Republic of Sudan were reviewed as a result of the armed clashes inside Sudan, which led to huge numbers of victims, and a continuous increase in the number of injured, which affected the social and health conditions greatly, and the situation formed double humanitarian, health and social effects on the elderly, people with disabilities and children. In a statement, the Minister of Social Development affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's solidarity with brotherly Sudan in its difficult ordeal that left humanitarian and social impacts, and its firm position represented in the need to reduce escalation and work for a peaceful solution to the crisis between the concerned parties, in order to avoid an exacerbation of the humanitarian situation in the Republic of Sudan, pointing to Bahrain's keenness to support international efforts to provide all aspects of humanitarian and social support in a way that contributes to improving the situation in Sudan, and making every effort to assist the Republic of Sudan in ending this crisis and in line with the interest of the brotherly Sudanese people. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council decided to instruct the General Secretariat of the Social Affairs Sector to take the necessary measures to mitigate the humanitarian and social effects resulting from the armed clashes in the sisterly Republic of Sudan, to purchase social and humanitarian support supplies and to work to deliver them to those affected in coordination with the concerned Arab and international bodies. The Council also decided to support the joint international efforts between the League of Arab States and the Sudanese state, to provide health, medicine, food and social care support to civilians in the areas of clashes, and to the displaced Sudanese in the various states. This session comes in recognition of the seriousness of the humanitarian situation in the sisterly Republic of Sudan, and the repercussions the people are exposed to as a result of the armed clashes, and their impact on the Sudanese social and development capabilities and gains, and the need for rapid humanitarian and social intervention to limit the effects of these repercussions, including the speedy delivery of humanitarian and social care services to those affected, as the Council of the League of Arab States issued at the level of permanent delegates in its extraordinary session last April, a statement on developments in the Republic of Sudan.
