Under the auspices of His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioral and Communication Difficulties organized a marathon to raise awareness of autism, in the presence of the association’s president, Dr. Shaikha Rania bint Ali Al Khalifa, and a number of relevant private and civil authorities, community figures and children with autism and their parents, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center in Sakhir. On this occasion, the Minister of Social Development affirmed the government's keenness and interest in providing the best support factors for autism spectrum disorder, which reflects the progress of the Kingdom of Bahrain in terms of caring for and rehabilitating this group and containing them with all necessary forms of care to be useful individuals for themselves and their society. On the other hand, Minister Al-Asfoor praised the humanitarian and development efforts made by the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioral and Communication Difficulties in the field of empowering people with autism, and support for national directions within the framework of efforts to implement plans, programs and projects related to autism that achieve excellence and fluency in a number of life skills for this group and their parents, in addition to overcoming the negative effects that prevent progress with concepts related to autism, pointing out that the organization of these developmental events contributes to enhancing and accessing opportunities for all individuals with behavioral and communication difficulties, their families and members of society for active community participation. He also affirmed the support of the Ministry of Social Development for all development efforts carried out by civil society organizations to carry out their social duty towards various segments of society, especially people with disabilities, pointing to the importance of strengthening efforts between all official, private and civil authorities, in order to achieve the noble humanitarian goals and provide sustainable development services.
