At the outset of the forum, Ms. Enas Mohammed Al Majid, Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development at the Ministry, delivered a speech in which she emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain, within its comprehensive development path led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attaches great importance within its development plans to projects of productive families, noting the government’s initiatives to provide support to these families as one of the small and micro projects that contribute to Expanding the labor market, increasing social welfare and empowering the family. Al-Majed praised the topic of the forum, which sheds light on the importance of empowering Bahraini women working in the productive sector economically, noting in this context that the percentage of women who obtain a productive home registration and are registered in the step project for home projects affiliated with the Ministry constitutes 75%, noting that the productive families project is a source of income gain or increase for the family and women breadwinners with limited resources, and given these considerations, the project was graciously sponsored by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of the country. She explained that the Ministry of Social Development has embraced productive families since 1978, and has continued to support these families through holding exhibitions, in addition to some training courses. Categories that have specific skills in professions that fall within the activities and professions to which the Commercial Register Law does not apply and can be practiced from home, as well as groups that do not have specific skills and wish to increase their economic income. Al-Majed added that the step program is characterized by many advantages, most notably obtaining the productive home registration, and benefiting from the services of productive families centers and exhibition and marketing halls, in addition to benefiting from the supporting centers in the ministry such as the centers of excellence for microenterprises, and the design and innovation center, with the aim of transforming from productive families into entrepreneurs, in addition to the possibility of commercial dealings with all ministries and commercial institutions, by adopting the product home registration number as a name or legal reference for dealing, and obtaining customs facilities at border crossings, and financing facilities from the family home. for microfinance, in addition to the possibility of optional social insurance. The Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development affirmed that the Ministry is keen to secure social protection for the various segments of Bahraini society in general and women in particular, through the implementation of development programs to empower women economically, and to qualify and train women who wish to work, to improve their productive capacity, and make them productive in a manner that guarantees them an income that allows them to live a decent life.
