Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, met with Dr. Tarek Nabulsi, Director of the Development and Social Policies Department, Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs. The meeting focused on further developing cooperation between Bahrain’s Ministry of Social Development and the Council Secretariat, as well as preparations for upcoming Arab Social Affairs Ministers meetings. Both sides emphasised the importance of coordinating efforts and enhancing collaboration among member states to achieve shared goals. Al Alawi commended the secretariat's role in coordinating efforts among member states and emphasised Bahrain's commitment to supporting social initiatives in the region. Dr. Al Nabulsi expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s leadership in promoting social development in the Arab world, highlighting the success of the 44th Arab Social Affairs Ministers Council meeting held in Bahrain.

Social Development Minister visits Friendship Society for the Blind

Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, visited the Friendship Society for the Blind to review the activities and services provided to the society’s beneficiaries. Al Alawi emphasised the ministry's commitment to supporting associations that offer exceptional humanitarian and social services. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the ministry and civil societies to achieve sustainable development and integrate visually impaired individuals into society. Al Alawi commended the efforts of society’s team and underscored the ministry's support for services and projects that empower and enhance the role of the visually impaired in the community. The minister toured the educational and rehabilitation sections aimed at enhancing the skills of visually impaired individuals and enabling their independence. He was also briefed on specialised programmes focused on developing professional and educational abilities, including the use of modern technology to facilitate their daily lives. During the visit, the minister met with beneficiaries of society’s services, listened to their experiences and aspirations, and received their appreciation for the efforts to improve the services provided to them. The president of the Friendship Society for the Blind expressed gratitude to the minister for the visit, noting that such engagements contribute to raising community awareness about the visually impaired and their needs.

المنامة في 25 ديسمبر /بنا/ استقبل سعادة السيد أسامة بن صالح العلوي، وزير التنمية الاجتماعية، سعادة السيد عصام الأحمر وزير الشؤون الاجتماعية بالجمهورية التونسية، وذلك على هامش انعقاد أعمال الدورة 44 لمجلس وزراء الشؤون الاجتماعية العرب. وخلال اللقاء، تم استعراض العلاقات الثنائية بين مملكة البحرين والجمهورية التونسية وما تشهده من تطورات إيجابية في مختلف الأصعدة. كما تمت مناقشة أبرز التوصيات الناتجة عن اجتماع الدورة الحالي والذي من شأنه تعزيز التعاون الثنائي بين البلدين في مختلف المجالات، ولا سيما في مجالات التنمية الاجتماعية. وأكد وزير التنمية الاجتماعية أهمية تنمية التعاون المشترك والدفع به نحو آفاق أرحب بما يحقق الأهداف والتطلعات المشتركة. من جانبه؛ أعرب وزير الشؤون الاجتماعية التونسي عن شكره وتقديره لاستضافة البحرين لأعمال الدورة 44 لمجلس وزراء الشؤون الاجتماعية العرب، مثمناً الجهود التي تبذلها المملكة في مجال التنمية الاجتماعية، مؤكداً اهتمام بلاده بتوسيع أطر التعاون مع مملكة البحرين في مختلف المجالات.

Manama, Dec. 25 (BNA): The 44th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, held in Bahrain from December 22-25, concluded with recommendations to support entrepreneurship and social inclusion. The event, organised by Bahrain's Ministry of Social Development in cooperation with the Arab League, was attended by Arab ministers, officials, and representatives of international organisations. Minister Osama Al Alawi thanked the participants and highlighted Bahrain's commitment to enhancing social development in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. He emphasised the importance of technological advancements in social services and the need for integrated efforts to improve social protection, particularly for vulnerable groups. The session also reviewed the outcomes of a high-level event on family support and entrepreneurship, resulting in recommendations to promote entrepreneurship and effective social inclusion. Minister Al Alawi noted Bahrain's commitment to implementing the agreed decisions in collaboration with member states. Dr. Maya Morsy, Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity, highlighted Egypt’s ongoing support for social development, especially in the areas of disability and elderly care. Ahmad bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, commended Bahrain's efforts and emphasised Saudi Arabia's commitment to social development initiatives. The session also focused on the upcoming 2025 Global Disability Summit, with participants highlighting the importance of enhancing partnerships to advance the rights of people with disabilities and to ensure the implementation of resolutions that will improve the lives of Arab citizens.

Manama, Dec. 24 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met today with the head of delegations participating in the 44th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, at Gudaibiya Palace. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to consolidating joint Arab efforts across various development sectors. His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of furthering Arab integration, particularly in the social development sectors, to meet the aspirations of the Arab people and align with the visions of Arab leaders. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad expressed his best wishes to the heads of delegations, wishing them success in their participation in the 44th Session hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Royal Highness also expressed his wishes that the outcomes of the 44th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs will further Arab collaboration. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad stressed the importance of such meetings, which enhances the exchange of expertise and knowledge across various sectors among Arab nations and strengthens joint Arab cooperation. His Royal Highness noted the role of initiatives and social development programmes in fostering productivity and creativity and promoting social solidarity to meet Arab aspirations. For their part, the heads of delegations participating in the Session expressed their gratitude for His Royal Highness’s commitment to enhancing joint Arab action across various sectors and wished the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity. Manama, Dec. 24 (BNA): The high-level event on "Productive Families and Entrepreneurship" began today as part of 44th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, organised by Bahrain's Ministry of Social Development in collaboration with the Arab League. It was attended by Arab ministers, social affairs officials, and international organisations. Osama Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, welcomed the attendees to Bahrain. He emphasised that this event reflects the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of the government under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The minister highlighted Bahrain's initiatives, including the Her Royal Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Productive Families, which has evolved into a regional project. Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General and Head of Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, highlighted the importance of developing productive families into entrepreneurs to meet sustainable development goals. Manama, Dec. 23 (BNA): The 44th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs at the senior officials' level commenced today. The meeting was attended by representatives from Arab ministries of social and development affairs and the council’s technical secretariat to discuss priorities for advancing social development across the Arab region. Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Social Development and chair of the session, highlighted the importance of empowering vulnerable groups through active community participation. She emphasised that such efforts contribute to economic empowerment and align with comprehensive social development objectives. Al Mannai also stressed the need to prepare for the social agenda of the upcoming Arab Summit and address the social dimensions of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Al Mannai emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to supporting social priorities under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She highlighted Bahrain’s efforts to promote inclusivity, economic empowerment, and tangible progress for vulnerable groups, reflecting the country’s broader goals for social development. She also noted that providing humanitarian and social support to Arab countries facing conflicts is a critical priority, alongside backing developmental projects that align with the 2030 SDG agenda. Amira Taj, Director General of International Relations and Agreements at Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity, commended the Ministry of Social Development’s organisation of the session. She affirmed the importance of advancing regional strategies, programmes, and action plans, including efforts to implement the second Arab decade for persons with disabilities, particularly in developing disability classification systems. Dr. Tarek Nabulsi, Director of the Development and Social Policies Department, Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, highlighted the need to focus on key social and humanitarian challenges in the region. He said that discussions will cover 14 topics in preparation for the Arab Summit and two global events: World Summit for Social Development and the Global Disability Summit. Dr. Nabulsi said that the summit will also discuss issues related to families, children, the elderly, and social policies, ensuring alignment with regional priorities.
