The Minister of Social Development affirms Bahrain's continued commitment to promoting restorative justice for children and protecting them from abuse

His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, received Ms. Paula Jack, a criminal justice expert at the NICO Foundation in the United Kingdom, in the presence of the Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Stuart Summers, and a number of representatives of the relevant official authorities and officials of the Ministry. During the meeting, His Excellency affirmed the continuous commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Kingdom of Bahrain, to promoting restorative justice for children and protecting them from abuse, noting the keenness of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Lakhifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to consolidate Bahrain's leadership regionally and internationally in the field of child care. Al-Asfoor pointed to the willingness and readiness of the Ministry of Social Development to provide integrated guarantees for the protection of children's rights in a safe and supportive environment for sustainable development, under the "corrective justice" law, through the Social Welfare Complex project, and with the help of international expertise concerned with child protection, in addition to partnership with various sectors related to the implementation of the provisions guaranteed by the law, to develop the justice system and its role in enhancing the protection of children's rights. During the meeting, prospects for joint cooperation between the two sides were discussed, in addition to discussing technical support and benefiting from British expertise in several areas, most notably the legal and training field, and the institutional building of the Child Protection Center, which contributes to activating plans and programs to prevent and protect children from abuse, as well as the responsibility for assessing, sheltering and following up the affairs of this category of abused children.
