Social Development Minister visits Friendship Society for the Blind

Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, visited the Friendship Society for the Blind to review the activities and services provided to the society’s beneficiaries. Al Alawi emphasised the ministry's commitment to supporting associations that offer exceptional humanitarian and social services. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the ministry and civil societies to achieve sustainable development and integrate visually impaired individuals into society. Al Alawi commended the efforts of society’s team and underscored the ministry's support for services and projects that empower and enhance the role of the visually impaired in the community. The minister toured the educational and rehabilitation sections aimed at enhancing the skills of visually impaired individuals and enabling their independence. He was also briefed on specialised programmes focused on developing professional and educational abilities, including the use of modern technology to facilitate their daily lives. During the visit, the minister met with beneficiaries of society’s services, listened to their experiences and aspirations, and received their appreciation for the efforts to improve the services provided to them. The president of the Friendship Society for the Blind expressed gratitude to the minister for the visit, noting that such engagements contribute to raising community awareness about the visually impaired and their needs.
