Social Development Minister highlights importance of International Volunteer Day

Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, emphasized that International Volunteer Day, observed annually on December 5, serves as a key motivator to enhance volunteer work and its policies. He added that International Volunteer Day encourages civil society organizations to foster active citizenship, solidarity, and social cohesion while highlighting the role of volunteering in advancing development goals. The minister highlighted that volunteer work reflects the values of cooperation and solidarity deeply rooted in Bahrain. He commended the initiatives that have supported national development across various sectors and inspired individuals and communities to embrace a spirit of giving. He underscored the ministry’s commitment to fostering a culture of volunteering by supporting civil society organizations as essential partners in achieving sustainable development and enhancing social cohesion. The ministry continues to empower these organizations by creating an enabling environment to maximize the positive impact of volunteer work through collaboration with public, private, and civil institutions, he added. The minister urged volunteers to continue building on their achievements and contribute to Bahrain’s legacy of volunteerism, which has become a distinguished model in humanitarian efforts at all levels.
