Bahrain marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The High Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities organised an event to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities under the theme “United for a Better Tomorrow.” The event was attended by Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, alongside committee members and representatives from relevant organisations. In her remarks, Al Mannai emphasised the importance of the occasion as a platform for collaboration across sectors to empower persons with disabilities and protect their rights. She noted that Bahrain stands as a leading model in providing services to persons with disabilities as part of its comprehensive development process, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the ongoing support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Al Mannai highlighted the National Strategy for Persons with Disabilities as a cornerstone for promoting equality, justice, and equal opportunities. She emphasised the importance of enhancing partnerships among the public, private, and civil sectors to achieve these goals. She highlighted the Ministry of Social Development’s efforts to ensure social security for persons with disabilities through rehabilitative, social, and health services for children and youth. Al Mannai thanked the organisers, particularly Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC) and Deputy Chairman of the High Committee for the Care of Persons with Disabilities, as well as committee members and all partners and supporters of the event.
