The Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Social Development is examining a number of initiatives supporting gender balance

The Equal Opportunities Committee in the Ministry of Social Development held its fourth meeting during the current year, headed by Ms. Enas Muhammad Al-Majed, Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development, and in the presence of a number of committee members from various departments of the Ministry. During the meeting, a number of topics were discussed on the agenda, including launching the training portfolio initiative in cooperation with civil society organizations, developing a plan for awareness sessions within the framework of equal opportunities and gender balance, and discussing the development of incentive systems and institutional evaluation directed to civil society organizations to suit the objectives of the committee, as well as investing in Volunteer work register and registration register of social and cultural associations and clubs to measure women’s contribution. In this context, the Assistant Undersecretary for Community Development praised the efforts of the committee members and their continued support for implementing programs to promote the principle of equal opportunities between the sexes, stressing the committee’s keenness to adopt more initiatives that support women’s progress and raise their contributions to the development process.
