Minister of "Social Development": Adoption of 5 severe disabilities, beneficiaries of the decision to double the monthly allowances... and a committee to study grievances

After the agreement between the legislative and executive authorities to double the allocations for people with severe disabilities to become 200 dinars per month, His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Al-Asfour, Minister of Social Development, chaired the meeting of the Higher Committee for the Care of Affairs of Persons with Disabilities, to discuss the criteria for classification of severe disability and its legal basis, and to define it with accuracy and transparency. During the meeting, the committee discussed the concept of severe disability based on national and regional standards and standards, which classify disability as severe in comparison to the independence factor of the disabled person, which is represented in the extent to which he shows behavior and reaction appropriate to the situation by completely self-reliant, as this is one of the most important standards and measurement tools in defining and classifying the nature of severe disabilities. The committee was keen to ensure that people with severe disabilities benefit from doubling the monthly allowances, in accordance with approved classification criteria for the case of "severe disability", to include five types of disabilities, namely: severe intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, complete paralysis, autism, in addition to multiple disabilities. His Excellency the Minister of Social Development, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Care of Affairs of Persons with Disabilities, affirmed the Committee's interest in ensuring that people with disabilities obtain all the rights and gains guaranteed by the relevant laws, regulations and organizational decisions, explaining that the Ministry has formed a team to count the numbers of beneficiaries of the decision according to the classifications approved in the Ministry of Social Development's systems and according to the medical reports of each beneficiary in preparation for the disbursement process starting from June 15, 2023. In its meeting, the committee discussed the launch of the implementation plan for the national strategy for people with disabilities. It is noteworthy that the Higher Committee for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities includes in its membership representatives of government and private agencies.
