Under the auspices of His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, the Bahrain Society for Voluntary Work organized the closing ceremony of the International Conference to Promote Voluntary Work entitled “Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mushaiqih Course”, on the occasion of the International Day of Volunteers, and in the presence of His Excellency the honorary member of the Bahrain Society for Voluntary Work, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Mushiqih, and His Excellency Dr. Hassan Eid Bukhmas, Member of the House of Representatives, Honorary President of the Society, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Society, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Sindi, and guests of the Kingdom of Bahrain from the participants in the conference, and a number of chairpersons Departments of NGOs, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama. In his speech at the beginning of the closing ceremony of the conference, His Excellency the Minister of Social Development expressed his thanks and appreciation to Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mushaqih for his interest in volunteer work, praising in this context the efforts of the Bahrain Voluntary Work Society, which works continuously to support charitable, social and development work in the Kingdom of Bahrain through many distinguished initiatives. Minister Al-Asfoor affirmed the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the great monarch of the country, may God protect and preserve him, for charitable, humanitarian and community work at the local, regional and international levels, with continuous follow-up from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him. The minister indicated that volunteer work stems from the values, customs and traditions of Bahraini society, by consolidating concepts of responsibility and community partnership, and applying best practices for giving and volunteering initiatives. His Excellency also said that social work has become an irreversible option, and that what civil society organizations have achieved over the past years in terms of sustainable development programs and projects is a reflection of the spirit of perseverance and sound planning, and the fruit of a comprehensive strategy adopted by the civil sector as a framework for its targeted development programmes, to be an effective partner and supporter of the government sector, which confirms the need for the civil sector for continuous support to be able to continue its giving and expand and diversify its areas of humanitarian work. The ceremony included honoring a number of prominent personalities and private companies supporting volunteer work and the programs of the Bahrain Voluntary Work Society, and they are: • His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, awarded the National Work Pioneer in Support of Voluntary Work and his continuous support to the Association for 5 years • Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al-Mushiqih, former member of the Saudi Shura Council and honorary member of the Society for his support of the conference • Seef Real Estate Company - Community Partnership Award • Saya Cup Company - Community Partnership Award • Bana Gas Company - Community Partnership Award In addition to honoring the winners of the Dr. Abd al-Rahman al-Mushaqih Award for the pioneers of volunteer work in the Arab world, and honoring the members of the association who received medals for volunteer work hours.
