His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfour, Minister of Social Development, and Her Excellency Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, headed the delegations of the two ministries to participate in the work of the Sixth International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation organized by the King Salman Center for Disability Research at Al-Faisal University in Riyadh, under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during the period from 4-6 December 2022 in the presence of a number of Their Highnesses and Excellencies ministers concerned with disability and university presidents Businessmen, academics, researchers, and heads of regional and international organizations and federations. The conference aims to review how the results of scientific research are applied to serve this important group and their families in various fields, in addition to discussing scientific issues and contemporary trends in the field of empowering persons with disabilities, as well as exchanging international experiences that contribute to facilitating the transition of the disability category from childhood to youth, as well as encouraging technological innovation, which contributes to empowering and achieving the independence of this group. On this occasion, the Minister of Social Development expressed the importance of this high-level conference, and the importance of participating in it, especially since the Kingdom of Bahrain attaches great importance to persons with disabilities, especially with regard to preserving their rights and rehabilitating them by all means in an effort to integrate them into society, and as the conference reflects the aspirations and aspirations in the field of caring for people with disabilities, especially in terms of applying best practices to improve their quality of life, stressing in this context the importance of the conference in achieving the strategic goals of empowering and rehabilitating persons with disabilities, especially as it includes a selection of cultural and professional events, And sheds light on the most prominent issues related to this category, which contributes to setting a framework for joint action, and allows overcoming all challenges for the category of people with disabilities and their families, expressing his appreciation for the pivotal role that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays in this aspect and its pioneering efforts to care for people with disabilities. For her part, the Minister of Health affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is keen to take care of people with disabilities, provide all their needs and requirements, and empower them to be active people in society, noting that Bahrain has recorded pioneering stations and a prominent role in the health field and in providing the best efficient and high-quality diagnostic and treatment services for this important group, as Bahrain pays great attention to health programs in general and the disability program in particular, praising her happiness at the same time for the conference, which includes an international scientific constellation that contributes to making quantum leaps in all related fields. People with determination, providing various opportunities for professional, scientific, and cultural development in the fields of disability for researchers, interested persons, persons with disabilities, their families, and service providers in the field of disability, pointing to the great role played by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting joint health work focused on serving people with disabilities and ensuring their empowerment and achieving their aspirations. This conference, in its sixth edition, is considered one of the scientific events at the international level, and it will contribute to making qualitative leaps in all fields related to disability, to be a distinguished and pioneering conference. It is considered a continuation of the previous five conferences, which were crowned with success with their recommendations that contributed to improving the services provided to persons with disabilities, through a number of national programmes. The conference discussed a number of axes concerned with issues of persons with disabilities, in the medical and health aspects, and the educational and rehabilitation aspect and support services, as well as the axes of empowerment issues between the childhood and youth stages, and the national initiatives and programs they included.
