The National Committee for Childhood in the Kingdom of Bahrain won the Child-Friendly Institutions Award for the year 2022, which was approved by the Arbitration Committee of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, in recognition of its best efforts and initiatives in the field of early childhood. Believing in the principle of community partnership to enable persons with disabilities to integrate into society, a number of programmes, initiatives and projects targeting this category have been implemented, the most prominent of which are community partnership projects that include managing and operating a driving training program, in coordination with the General Traffic Department. Among the most prominent initiatives adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain at the international and regional levels is the formation of the National Committee for Childhood and the launch of the strategy for childhood and its implementation plan, concerned with coordination between all governmental and private sectors and civil society institutions related to childhood through several mechanisms, as that strategy is based on four main axes represented by the right to health and survival, the right to education, development and capacity building, and The right to protection and the right to participation. These four axes included (19) goals, under which (114) work mechanisms, programs and initiatives fall. The Ministry of Social Development continues to make efforts and build on the pioneering national achievements that are consistent with the social and cultural constants in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as international treaties in the field of children's rights, within the framework of a comprehensive community partnership strategy, with the aim of achieving more support and development in the system of sustainable development paths.

His Excellency Mr. Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfour, Minister of Social Development, stressed the importance of providing approved rehabilitation programs and services for people of determination, in a way that contributes to translating the goals and aspirations that are in the interest of their rehabilitation, and pushes them towards true integration into society, pointing to the ministry's keenness to overcome all challenges that may hinder the implementation of the plans of the centers concerned with this category, within the framework of the embodiment of community partnership between the government and private sectors, which in turn contributes to the development and improvement of the level of efficiency of the aspects of services provided to people of determination. During the inspection visit of His Excellency the Minister of Social Development to the "Think" therapeutic center for developing children's behavior, a brief presentation was made on the goals of the center, which provides a number of programs and services, including assessment and analysis of applied behavior and school support services, as well as parent training services and academic support programs, under the supervision of accredited specialists and behavioral analysts. Realistic cases of a number of children benefiting from the center's services were also reviewed. Upon his visit to the "REACH" Center for Behavior and Development, he was briefed on the programs offered by the center, as part of three programs concerned with rehabilitating children with determination, as well as programs focusing on speech skills, vocational therapy and behavior modification.
