Family Care & Protection Centers
Our aim is to provide distinct preventive development services for all members of Bahraini family in order to enhance the role of the family in confronting contemporary challenges and problems, solving problems that family member’s experience, and achieving happiness, stability and family compatibility.
Definition of the family:
The family is the husband and wife by virtue of a legitimate or legal marriage contract and their children and grandchildren. According to (Family Violence Protection Law No. (17) of 2015), family is the primary cell of the society and its most important primary group. A family, made up of individuals tied with kinship and uterus, contributes to social activity in all its material, spiritual, ideological and economic aspects.
Family, according to the article (5) of the Social Security Law No. (18) of 2008, is defined as t “each group made up of a husband and a wife or more, and their children, with the head of the family affording living expenditures.”
The head of the family is defined as "the husband". However, in exceptional cases; the husband is the one who is recognized by other members of the family as responsible for the family and their financial affairs.
Family Guidance
Family guidance offices provide its services and guidance programs to meet the needs of all members of the Bahraini family, including helping family members to achieve mutual understanding, eliminate stress and emotion, resolve conflicts among themselves, eliminate anxiety, and achieve convergence, harmony and tolerance.
Family guidance offices provide the following services:
- Individual counseling.
- Group counseling.
- Guidance by playing.
- Preventive guidance.
- Family Care Program (Implementation of Visitation and Vision Provisions).
The Ministry of Social Development is the competent authority to issue licenses for the establishment and opening of family guidance offices in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Enforcement of provisions of visitation and vision (family care program):
The Family Welfare Program of the Family Counseling Department at the Ministry of Social Development is the only program concerned with the implementation of the provisions of visits for divorced or separated families in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Coordination is carried out to implement the provisions of visits received from the enforcement courts of the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs in social centers.
The provisions of visits or seeing children through social centers are implemented on Thursdays during the hours (4-7) in the evening, and on Fridays and Saturdays during the period The morning period during the hours (9-12) in the morning and the evening period during the hours (4-7) in the evening.
