Al Matrook Conductive Rehabilitation Centre
Is a social partnership project between the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by the Ministry of Labour & Social Development and the private sector represented in Khutuwat Centre for Rehabilitation to serve a type of person most in need of care in Bahraini society. The Centre was founded on January, 23, 2008. By virtue of the contract executed, Khutuwat Centre operates the Al Matrook Conductive Rehabilitation Centre to provide the highest level of assistance to motor-disabled persons and the mentally disabled.

Rehabilitating psychologically and socially those with mental and motor disabilities in a way that is appropriate for their abilities.
This is a deficiency of the upper nervous system, especially in the brain, that results in the paralysis of all four limbs or the two lower limbs or it may affect only one side of the body. The paralysis results in the inability to control different hypnotic motions. The severity of symptoms differs according to the location and level at which the brain is affected. This condition may also result in defects of the other sensory organs.
The centre provides services to persons with motor disabilities through the day-care program including the following:
Rehabilitation and Psychological and Social Evaluation:
Psychological evaluation identifies the mental and motor abilities of the disabled person that help to identify the type of the program suitable for them: the psychological program, the cure and guidance programs, in addition to the programs of behaviour modification, individual or collective guidance services and guidance for the family.
Building positive and strong relations with guardians and guiding them to a better future: the social aspect
This program rehabilitates mentally disabled children who can respond to instructions. The program includes:
1- Lying down program: to roll from one place to another
2- Sitting up program: to help children sit on chairs alone safely and to help them
3- Walking program: walking independently or with a device
4- Nutrition program: eating and drinking with help
5- Self-Care program
6- Stretching program
7- Standing program
The Physiotherapy department helps to enhance and strengthen children’s motor skills through an integrated program including the following:
- Stretching and strengthening exercises
- Functional exercises
- Daily living activities
- Maintaining body posture
- Joint mobilization
Phonology/difficulties in swallowing:
Phonology and language science deals generally with communication disorders: pronunciation, language, hearing, speaking and fluency
The evaluation centre provides the guidance and monitoring program, family and home monitoring. In addition, the centre provides programs for phonology and language training by stimulating and strengthening the speech muscles and by increasing reception and expression language skills.
The centre also provides guidance and education services to improve children’s ability to chew and swallow with appropriate tools, sitting position and techniques to improve the chewing process.
The Academic Program:
This includes individual plans suitable for the level of each child within matching groups. The program depends on different educational programs for children with special needs considering individual differences. The centre has six classes. Each class is supervised by a trained female teacher and her assistant who oversee the development of the children’s cognitive, academic, motor and language skills.
Health rehabilitation and improved nutrition:
This consists of a daily program held by the nurse at the centre
who measures the vital indicators of the children and a regular medical program conducted by different volunteer physicians specialized in the care of children with special needs who cooperate with concerned bodies if necessary.
Helping Technology Program:
This is a program aimed at providing modern technological tools to help improve the inherent motor skills of disabled children whether they are complicated or simple, after identifying their needs and abilities; these tools include smart tablets, touch control panels, motor support tools, communication tablets, academic support and others.
Conditions of Admission:
